Active Care Rehabilitation
While spinal manipulation is a primary treatment modality at Life in Motion Chiropractic and Wellness our Doctors of Chiropractic also provide a substantial amount of other care and counsel to our patients. Our doctors utilize modalities such as heat, ice, electrical stimulation, soft tissue manipulation, and rehabilitation methods. A majority of our patients receive instruction on therapeutic exercise as well as ergonomic, fitness, and postural recommendations. Many of our patients are also counseled about nutrition, vitamins, smoking cessation, and relaxation techniques. Our doctors approach patient care from a biopsychosocial model that incorporates more than the single service of spinal manipulative therapy.
Active care rehabilitation places emphasis on disordered function taking in to account the demands of each individual’s environments, - in the workplace, at home, and at play- on the spine and musculoskeletal system (Video 1 / Video 2). Maximum recovery depends upon appropriately reintegrating the patient/ person - physically and psychosocially - with these environments. The goal of active care is to improve regional and musculoskeletal flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination through the use of therapeutic exercise .
